Does anyone have any idea of what’s going on anywhere other than what’s being forced down those “channels” each day? Of course not, you’re not meant to. The Internet came along and we were preached the freedoms that come with it. Well let me tell you, like some “oldie”, there were more before than there are now. Isn’t that a great way to break the start of some bad news! Actually, it’s not that bad but it could end up kind of long, so here goes.<\/p>\n
Anyone noticed any of those changes that came in since the topic we mentioned last month? The European General Data Protection Regulations. Normally I wouldn’t go into it much further than I’ve already mentioned but Lipcrack have experienced some of the negativity being sent by web users. This is due to the fact they believe there’s “Cookie’s” taking over the planet and consuming all their rights as citizens. Beware when they turn Chocolate, I tell you there’s going to be no stopping them.<\/p>\n
Well, they are actually right to a certain degree but here’s the thing which I have maintained in regards to Lipcrack via our terms and conditions page. We maintain our cookies aren’t doing that kind of damage. Why? Because as a part of the site development we’ve never planned to “server Add’s” or advertisements. That is the basis of what cookies do depending on what’s being used, how it collects information and so forth. You’ve got to wonder at the technology behind them but that’s about it. They collect data about users habits and then make decisions on that, “sometimes” as to which add to serve on a web page. Otherwise, you just get served, so to speak an add which is associated with an advertising company working with the cookie company.<\/p>\n
Lipcrack doesn’t serve adds on the site, it provides products namely music tracks on a website.<\/p>\n
Now you might ask why we did that? And this is where I’m going to elaborate a little further on some of the dynamics of the web as a general place of business and information relay. Another fact, whoever you deal with in terms of business on the web, for the most part, has a business structure and these advertising agencies are big business and always have been. Many people started out with one of the main companies on the web Microsoft, then came one of many major competitors Google who are currently responsible for a great deal of advertising on the web and some of the benefits that come with providing adds.<\/p>\n
Having been on the web for a considerable amount of time, Lipcrack are aware that sometimes big companies can let you down, so can small ones were not differentiating on size. So we took it slowly with their “cookie” service and didn’t implement everything. Now I can say I’m glad we didn’t. They joined partners with another company, people’s emails have been requested to change and a range of other gear that just would have been a huge headache for our own business operations.<\/p>\n
Am I one to provide advice on the web?, I don’t profess to be so, \u00a0I do occasionally provide information, it’s one of the things the web was alleged to be developed for. So my advice as usual in regards to the Internet and doing business on it is, “if you are going to use other service providers to service your own business make sure you know what they offer and how it works before deciding that sounds good”.<\/p>\n
I’m not saying to use or not use something, however if you were in Lipcrack’s current situation and assessing it, with all data that was once available for viewing, now unavailable when you log in, and sure I knew there were changes coming when I was informed…you’d be thinking, “well, I’m glad I didn’t run with that, because it looks dubious and certainly geared”. Sure if you want to run add’s on your site, I’d say consider it, cautiously! That’s all I want to say about it but it is a topic which is quite extensive. As are the way all those new regulations seem to be affecting things across the board. Cookies are only one form of data a very big one which is included in those “European” regulations.<\/p>\n
What else is there to tell? it seems as though we might have our highest data downloads for this month, that again, is not something we are trying to achieve.\u00a0By which I mean, if there are more, great!, but spending every second on how to get\u00a0more is not what we’re focusing on because currently, Lipcrack work very hard at all areas of business that interest us. It’s not always obvious to web visitors.<\/p>\n
Here is a little taste of something that has been continued for development and will go live on the site by the end of the year which is a long way off, Blog visitors can experience it right away.<\/p>\n
