First though, a big thank you to everyone who supported the release of Demolition Man. It’s been a couple of months now, but the work behind the scenes hasn’t slowed down. A lot of effort is currently going into increasing overall traffic flow and reaching new listeners, and with access to a few new mailing lists, promotion for the track will continue moving forward.

One thing that has become very clear during this process is just how difficult it is to gain real traction in the modern music industry without chart visibility. Realistically speaking, breaking into major charts like the Billboard Top 100 requires a level of presence on large platforms that Lipcrack simply doesn’t have yet. Activity on sites like Amazon and Spotify plays a huge role — when listeners save tracks, add them to favorites, and return to play them repeatedly, those platform algorithms begin to recognize momentum and signal that a band is worth paying attention to.

Lipcrack has always taken a slightly different path. In many ways we operate as our own label, pushing the music independently and finding listeners outside of the traditional channels. The upside is creative freedom; the downside is that without radio airplay or strong platform engagement, you miss another major gateway into chart exposure. It reinforces something I’ve mentioned before — success in this industry rarely comes from one direction alone. It takes multiple parts of the machine working together.

Because of that, this month has been about reassessing the next steps. While promotion for Demolition Man continues, the focus now shifts toward releasing more material so momentum doesn’t stall. More tracks mean more opportunities for listeners to connect with the music, and it also allows us to begin running broader promotional campaigns across platforms like Instagram and Facebook. The challenge, of course, is that everything still moves through an independent distributor, which can take close to a month before new releases appear online at those sites. At times it feels like fighting uphill without the backing of a major label — but progress is still progress.

The good news is that every step forward puts Lipcrack in front of more people who genuinely enjoy discovering new music, and that remains the main goal. There’s always a bottleneck when competing against stations and playlists built around familiar, safe material, but we did recently hear back from a radio station that showed interest in playing the track. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to catch the segment they mentioned, but they’ve been informed that more music is on the way, so hopefully something lands in rotation soon.

Which brings us to the latest news. Lipcrack will be releasing Fucked Up My Life in the coming weeks. You’ll start seeing short previews appearing soon, giving a glimpse into the direction and themes of the track. I’ve also updated the lyrics page for Off The Edge to include an explicit language guideline. Many of the songs touch on themes of sex, drugs, and rock and roll — elements that were deeply embedded in the music culture I grew up around and inevitably found their way into my writing. Anyone who spent time around live gigs in those years knows how much those experiences shaped the atmosphere, and those memories remain part of the storytelling.

On the visual side of things, a new photo shoot for the year has just been completed, so you’ll start seeing updated images appearing across the site this month. The website itself has also had a small update, with the mobile access tab now changed to a Subscribe button linked directly to the blog, making it easier to stay informed about releases and updates.

That’s it for this month. Stay tuned for the new release — there will be another blog update when it lands, but as always the quickest way to hear about new music is through the email updates, so make sure you’re subscribed.

Have a great month and look forward to updating you all with new material soon.

Lipcrack

February has already arrived, and it’s been an interesting month of research and reassessment here at the Lipcrack site — and I’ll explain why in a moment.
