A Day In The Life

Posted on May 30, 2018May 30, 2018 By Alena

Here it is the end of the month and as people are no doubt aware it’s been a big “Updates” everywhere as far as the web goes. Yes, those European General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) have come into force and I for one have had to consider what it all means particularly when someone buy’s a copy of a Lipcrack Track and provides their data in doing so. Realistically it tends to fall into that category of online business problems that people face when using the Internet for business. The potential of a business to get hacked and public data to fall into the hands of some computer genius that can then go and shift infinite sums of money from one bank account to another. Obviously, you might not want people knowing what’s in the computer in terms of your health at the local GP either but fact is the way data get’s stored it is not impossible to do if you know how. I don’t and really don’t have any need to get involved in that type of work but with a band name like Lipcrack, you’ve got to wonder.

Be informed here and now, Lipcrack do not engage in web cracking and we store our data via SSL or secure socket layer encryption technology. It really is as good as you can go in terms of providing a safe online experience. One day if we have multimillions of fans we’ll be considering some other type of business set up but as far as it goes with what we currently run and do, which is mainly data transfer of music to web servers its not really going to affect us to any great extent.

That said though, it is something Lipcrack have to be aware of and will respond to as appropriate due to the fact that we actually have European Fans. What that means is, at a suitable time over the next month or so we might need to add a “new clause” to our legal conditions, currently they really do everything they’re required to.

If I was a web reporter having to comment on it, this update would Drone On and On, as new regulation updates can, what things do they tend to affect generally? Well have you taken a look at any of the financial markets? Fact is many of these things are also geared more for those markets than general protections, again though I couldn’t suggest that as a recognized credible source. As a web participant that keeps a general eye on it’s day to day going’s on when I have a spare moment, it is easy to suggest there’s more to it than meets the eye.

So what does Lipcrack have to add as far as going on’s generally for this month?

Well actually it’s been a total non-event due to all number of local matters that have tended to
cause as big interruptions to method and routine as the GDPR. The last month was going great in terms of promo’s, then they just stopped in May. Believe it or not, it was mainly due to getting the summer burn off’s ready and completed before the heavy rains. It’s almost like a passage of a few weeks where you keep properties clear of dead foliage and fire safe for the following summer. In between job hunts there was a fair bit of that going on. It’s kind of disappointing because I was in a great routine and am about to start moving again for June. It’s already reasonably wet and cold. The Woolly Jumpers are out.

I can say I’m really pleased with the organizations that keep a “third eye” on our data and site visitors, the amount they download and how we get notified that site visitors are participating in the process. That was updated and mentioned briefly last month. Other than that there still is only one other plan in the pipeline for a possible update of how the tracks get delivered. Realistically it’s doing what it needs to.

There’s a lot of people out there that have been sold all the benefits of the web and I would agree there are so many, it’s a great lifestyle tool for information which is one of the first way’s it was introduced to the public via the University system and information sharing. When it comes to making a living from it, one of the many other functions that it can serve, you really have to do some work. I actually started in an Internet company that was developing websites for business groups and am at a point where I have to consider making some new career choices. I’m certainly not going to let the Lipcrack site lay in ruin which effectively it would do with no effort made in terms of reaching the public without effort. And big fact when I am promoting it, it’s a real joy, so you’re still going to see us here.

And that’s about it as far as this months update goes. See you all next month sometime, spread the word if you’re a first-time visitor and maybe one day you’ll see a live performance.
