A Day In The Life

Posted on December 20, 2019January 20, 2020 By Alena

Finally some time out from everything that’s been going on this year and as everyone knows it’s been a pretty big one for all manner of happenings. Obviously Lipcrack are excited about the way this year’s ending for us, which is – another track on the EP just about completed with only one more to go.

Regardless of that we’re going to take a quick look at the year and provide some news and outcomes in terms of recent events.

1. I’m going to start with my health, which currently feels reasonable. The Dr’s scan imaging pointed to some inflammation in shoulder joints and a couple of mild conditions which basically limit my abilities in terms of heavy arm work. My thyroid levels were bought back into normal range with some dietary changes and I’m pushing for some general health improvement or at least just maintaining it so that nothing too serious effects me. Personally I think there’s a good likelihood that I can limit any conditions from getting progressively worse, thats the plan and of course taking into consideration normal body wear and tear with age.

2. Oligopoly track development is going well. I’ve maintained in various locations that it’s a little different to Lipcrack’s previous tracks and that still is the case.

Here is a small section from what should be considered the second section of the track, it kind of diverges in performance. This was actually my favourite take but the other one suited the track better, so it’s a spare and still has a fair bit of development to go. Oligopoly Sample

Currently the plan is to finish this one hopefully prior to the New Year and immediately start the next one. Then once all tracks are complete coming back and finalizing the last of production tasks on Oligopoly.

3. Mailouts – the mail company didn’t respond to the last update in technical support the only option on that would be to open a new ticket but generally it feels like a waste of time.

Goodnews, once the next track is completed despite the fact that we do currently have hosting, right from the start it was fairly limited by all range of conditions which came with that hosting, including mailing. That means time is going to be spent finding a new hosting solution, possibly some site redevelopment and new promotions. We are absolutely aware that the same senario might eventuate, I’ve maintained right from the start, there are certain mechanisms in the music industry that do not work in favor of music groups not on big labels. I still maintain that. That is not to say we’d be “better on a big label”, it’s saying there are certain benefits that come with major label backing and those companies like to maintain that benefit.

TECHNICAL RANT
Something I didn’t mention last month however was an important development in our overall systems functioning. The computer that is utilized for track development had a software update. In actual fact it was a reinstall after changing over to a different product then deciding to update due to “persistent” email messages to do so. And I am going to tell you I am so glad I did. I’m not going into all the details regarding this, however the outcome is the computer functioning in terms of central processing has doubled.

I was actually fairly disappointed with how the computer did run when purchased. Given the knowledge I have on system performance it really did seem below par. Now all I can say is, the program I do use for the matter of operational performance is the only one that actually seems to be able to tap in and exploit all the capabilities of a computer. Generally I’m fairly disappointed to say that but I know anyone who buys a computer and spends some time on improving its capabilities will say the same thing. Software does improve computer functionality. The fact that it can’t be done manually by tinkering an important consideration.

I’m fairly sure there’s a multitude of people out there that run their computers but have no idea of how it’s mathematically performing. An example would be this, at stationary this computer is running 15% Ram with central processing at 3%. On the other computer “Windows 10”, 20% Ram with CPU at 9%. As soon as a program gets turned on Windows 10 that changes Ram to 22% which basically means the computer is now using 2% more ram to run that program and CPU runs at 18%, so double. That mean s approximately 1/5 of the computer processing capability is now being utilized.

Regardless of all the figures the processing ability after a couple of years usage is at an optimum performance ratio. Lets face it, I was totally surprised with the outcome and the fact that no other program has come anywhere close to doing it. Another fact, I was fairly annoyed when I had to change programs due to the Windows 10 upgrade.

END OF YEAR CELEBRATION
There’s probably a lot more I could mention however it’s the end of the year and most people are getting ready for some major celebrations. Obviously I have plenty to celebrate including just about completing a new EP.

Lipcrack leave this year wishing all of you the best for 2020, we know there are all manner of changes going on in the wider world and communities are becoming responsive to many of the issues that are presenting themselves as times become more difficult. It would be amiss of us to suggest that all things are getting better on a global scale because that is not always the case. In actual fact Oligopoly as a track mentions a small range of societal issues that have presented themselves in my own life.

Regardless, for those of you waiting to enjoy 2020 with us, stick around it should be fun, have a wonderful Christmas and a safe New Year, look forward to updates and we shall see you again in the new year.
