A Day In The Life

Posted on August 20, 2020 By Alena

Well here we are and August is coming to a rapid close as far as tasks are concerned. For Lipcrack it’s been a concerning month.

Despite all the computer outages and malfunctions of last month I did actually get 90% of tasks completed in terms of making the new track available on the site. And possibly could have completed the last 10% with some time to spare for a release this month.

But I’m going to briefly go over what occurred in the process of performing this task.

1. While the XP machine was re-validated it required to be repeated and at that point the process stalled. Now I’m going to let you in on a bit of information I came across some time back but haven’t had a chance to follow up on. That being – some electronic equipment can only be validated a number of times. Currently that information might actually be corrected but hasn’t been followed up. As such most of the tasks that could be completed in “Safe mode” were.

2. The Windows 10 machine. I have constantly maintained that I did not want to connect this machine to the Internet and only wanted to use it for sound recording. Due to the other computer outage that wasn’t possible. It was connected new software installed in terms of security in regards to all those problems that can occur e.g. security breaches, viruses and all range of mechanisms that damage normal functioning.

The result – that actually went reasonable well then Damage Mode set in. One of those things included a Microsoft update other matters may have also been responsible.

Now I’m not sure if anyone’s heard of A.I. – Artificial Intelligence but I’m going to mention it briefly, in computing terms it’s where mechanisms like software are created to “think for themselves or sometimes for others”.
I can tell you this due to experience, when something else makes a decision for you the result might not be acceptable.

This was the case for Lipcrack over the last week. Currently after an assessment of the matter the Win 10 machine is now functioning at about 50%. Music equipment was rendered non functional along with a range of desktop publishing equipment that needed to be installed. Networking was also impacted. Yeah! We were really surprised to. In fact it’s at the point where external drives are not even accessible. And sure go into devices and reinstall, it’s that simple. Well guess what! It wasn’t that simple and back end services haven’t resolved the issue either. Don’t forget most important gear like passwords is stored offline.

Want to know what my best option is ? Normally it would be reformatting the drive and reinstalling everything, which normally isn’t actually that difficult. Win 10 – a little different. Over the last month the assessment of various software products has provided a format which I’m fairly sure will work once all the matters that have interfered with the systems operational format are removed. During the process of looking into the matter, I actually became a little more aware of how ridiculous some of the matters are.

Here’s an example. I purchased a Win 10 platform. For some reason it was just before some kind of new Win 10 platform change over. So when I look in files, there’s Win 10 old and Win 10 new and there’s actually over 100 gig of that gear now and my files are taking up about 13 gig of the overall computer desktop space. Ridiculous! I’m hoping the reboot process possible on this platform removes all that but I’ve got a feeling it won’t. Currently as far as I am aware, the whole normal just reboot the operating system functionality of working on a Microsoft platform has changed. Am I going to be able to tell you some exciting news once it’s done. Well currently it’s see if you can save your current files to a USB as a back up because your external drive with everything has been locked out of the computer systems possibly by some networking functions which don’t update everything when you change them, like protected folders….etc…etc..

Fact is I’d love to update the new track and as it stands I can put it out because I had the track files saved elsewhere. If they were on the external hard drive currently I wouldn’t even be able to access them.

Can you slightly get an understanding of “Artificial Intelligence” from this document?. It’s a very complex subject. Perhaps you’ve seen the latest “Google/You Tube” messages on the web, well believe it or not, you’re actually looking at a variation of “Artificial Intelligence” in those matters.

I can only say “Be Very Wary”.

I’d love to provide you all with some other message this month the only thing I can say is maybe next month the track will be released. It will be some time soon. I really need to get a few tasks completed that were somewhat unexpected and the outcome of them at this stage can not be determined because we are dealing with Artificial Intelligence that can be manipulated by it’s makers and as Artificial Intelligence learns, by itself.

Have a great month where ever you are what ever your doing and stay safe.
