A Day In The Life

The Evolution of Sound

Who’s up for some surprising changes at the Lipcrack site?
Honestly, it surprised me too.

So, what started it all? An invitation to collaborate with new artists and musicians right when I was drowning in tasks. Writing lyrics, composing music, producing tracks, updating webpages and social media, sending out promo emails… the list went on forever, slowly draining my creative energy.

Now people most likely am aware I did start a new EP and completed two new tracks but lets face it at a certain point in time my sound started changing and so did my lyric content and for the most part, people are left to figure out what the tracks are about and I just know unless people are told what they are about wont understand the deeper meaning. Which gets us to the story of my lyrical evolution and the new tracks.

Not many people know this, but I’ve been songwriting for over 20 years, always thinking of myself as Lipcrack, the band. But recently, with all the big changes ahead, I had to rethink who I am creatively. It started with returning to my beings as a songwriter first and foremost.

For years, I kept an online journal of notes and lyrics. Then, one day, I lost access to it – not my doing. Thankfully, I’d saved a copy and managed to reclaim most of the work. What followed was a long process of sorting through ideas and half-written songs scattered everywhere.

To cut a long story short, which I’ll share more about later — I found a platform where songwriters can collaborate with other artists, singers, musicians, producers and programmers. I thought, this could be the break I’ve been waiting for. Being a studio artist makes it tough, no live gigs, no instant audience feedback, but music is still the heart of it all. So, I took the leap. I paid my membership fees, uploaded my first track, and when it came back from production, I thought, this is it. That moment sparked an entirely new project — and instead of just an EP, I’m thrilled to announce a full album coming soon. It’s called Off The Edge.

This has been a massive effort, but things are finally coming together. You can get a first look at the artwork and lyrics here: https://www.lipcrack.com/OffTheEdge/index.html

But beware, this isn’t an easy-listening album. It’s raw and intense — a “brutal truth” record built from dreams, madness, experiences, and emotion. But more important than all that, is the fact I really believe I’ve bought out the type of album that back in the day inspired me to really want to do something like this. And I’ll have more information on all of that in future updates.

Actually I could sit here and write about this gear till your eye’s popped out but rather than that, I’ll just say this update is to let people know Lipcrack have a new album coming out soon, it’s called Off The Edge, it’s a pinnacle album that you won’t want to miss, it brings together everything I have been trying to achieve with the songs that were written. In fact it’s called The Off The Edge Project because it is so faceted and such a change from anything that’s been put out previously and I wanted this artistic project to have it’s own dimension of space and time to release it. In fact it’s own life.

So that’s the news for November, the new track release will be coming soon enough and their will be a tonne more of information for our listeners and mailing lists. Get ready it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
