A Day In The Life

Posted on October 28, 2017October 29, 2017 By Alena

Well, my birthday month has come and gone as quickly as any other enjoyable moment in life, way too fast and track production as usual always takes way too long. No wonder sound engineers have such a great life huh? I can tell you this if they were being paid to work on Lipcrack tracks they’d make a fortune. The process, I believe, is quite different in terms of how a track comes into completion and that in part is due to the software Lipcrack use, which we maintain some confidentiality in.

So what’s been going on?

For those of you that took a look at Lipcrack’s YouTube updates, you would have soon discovered that “The Drinking Tune” was selected for production. There’s a range of takes that did and didn’t make final production and people can take a small sip here :

The track is finished and somehow done within the time frame that I’ve been giving myself in terms of completing this EP. I can tell you right now it’s hard to believe. It’s probably too simple to say I’m happy with it, currently, it’s sitting in my top 2 favorites so far produced. It’s quite a different sounding track to the others with a bluesy undertone. I’m not saying any more about it for now…..but like all of Lipcracks tracks, it’s full of a mish-mash of senarios….most of them enjoyable.

Whats Not Enjoyable?

When coders decide it’s time to update major coding platforms.
Anyone visited the site recently and not been able to get access to the blog or make purchases from the shop? Well here’s the news on that. Recently our hosting company along with many others out there upgraded their PHP platform which is one of the major coding languages on the web. Lipcracks Blog and Shop run with this code. So were we surprised when all the coding errors started showing up and pages started disappearing?  Yes! In the middle of the production of a track!  Kind of inconvenient.

I have maintained it and still do, it’s impossible to swap from task to task when producing an EP. Fortunately, the Blog only required a small addition of code to keep it functioning, which any person who has a Blog would have needed to update. Some of the plugin’s, still need changes but won’t affect functionality too soon.

The Shop that’s a different story and there’s some good news and some annoying news in regards to that.

The annoying news, for the next two months the shop is out of commission in terms of being able to buy Lipcrack products online, the tracks and their completion are the one and only priority.

The good news, the developers of the shop software have completed a redevelopment of the program that runs the shop and as far as I am aware it’s compliant with all new code. But the shop will have to be redeveloped and currently I cannot take the time out to see what I’m going to need to do to get all systems back and operational. For starters, it may require all new linking code. It will, however, be the first major update to the site in the new year once the EP is complete.

Bit of a bummer I know, the fact that the hosting company weren’t prepared to keep the old platform operational until that time, sure a total downer…

But hey! Life goes on and the songs are Rocking Out and that’s our number 1 priority.

For now that is this months update, I have a couple of day’s to work out which track is going to be worked on next. The Administration Appeal is in November and that without a doubt is going to set production back by at least a week I think.

How are we going out this month? Well it was my birthday month so this photo update is a bit of a surprise. I mentioned how I changed into my around the house T-shirt after the photo shoot that’s currently online, this is one of the ….. after the photo shoot …..shots…

Have a Great Month…. Lipcrack are in the process of choosing which track to develop next.
