Notice how newspapers can come up with news everyday to sell, regardless of if its old news? I think you can say that about this months update, which possibly comes off as a little negative, but it’s been one of those months and here’s why.
About three weeks ago the site went into dispute with the hosting company, I think you could say a general decline in regards to matters in terms of overall site hosting and reliability was the final turning point. Add an email suspending mail out services and that was enough although that was lifted. That email highly questionable as well, however like many things generally around here, the longer they can take to respond, the longer it takes to look into things, the longer your business gets caught up in the mess and suffers because it. I’ve seen that and experienced it across the board in terms of how everything operates. There’s always someone waiting to cash in.
In the end despite maintaining that the site would be moved if matters were not resolved from our point of view, we were given a week to move it. Currently after about three weeks we are finalizing the configurations and settings for the site which as usual, the more technical support that get involved with it, the worse it becomes. I still really don’t have too many good things to say about how hosting companies operate in terms of hosting web sites. Given that I’m so “Pro’ Internet, it’s kind of hard to believe I should imagine.
Think about it!, if you have to do something fast, what’s the likelihood of an error occurring? Greater that is for sure. I’m not saying that’s the case, what I am saying is Lipcrack are with a new host who have significantly different hosting accounts across the platform and rely on a completely different range of security and encryption type services which we utilize. These certificates tend to validate those cross platform issues. However most testing services seem quite happy with them so at this stage, I wont comment further.
So what of this months update. All I’m going to say is, we are at a new hosting company, you possibly will see some differences in the way the SSL Certificate is presented depending on what version of what platform on what equipment you use to access the web and who would be happy about it? Do I think it’s going to improve with time, has anything?
My final comment on this months Blog update because things are still going through back end configuration settings checks and changes still being made by the new technical support daily despite the fact you’d think you’d be able to do it all yourself. That’s not the case and be warned, hosting a web site is not all it seems and because it’s a very competitive industry in terms of how success is measured, it’s about as ethical as euthanasia or at least as controversial.
Good news, well, like most things Lipcrack have a yearly account with the new host and at the end of that period of time it will be reassessed. They actually have been reasonably good in terms of all matters and those things that have been questionable have been because of other reasons which I’m not going into.
There still is another track to be release this year as planned however it’s still not clear when that will be. I can only say, “As soon as it seems appropriate given that certain mechanisms and checks need to be in place”.
If you’ve had a great month this month good for you, I can at least say, sometimes my life isn’t quite like that. Enjoy this months Blog update and Lipcrack will have more news, sometime next month.
Lipcrack.
