Well, what a surprising year it’s been so far everywhere, I think most would agree its best that I don’t go on about the Coronavirus virus other than to say it seems wise to heed all warnings, play it safe and live to see another day. Currently keeping a safe distance from everyone seems to be wise advice. How everything else is eventuating from market crashes to monetary stimulus packages, well that’s politics and we all respond to that in different ways. I think possibly with time, the Lipcrack Blog will take a more socio-political stance because at times some of the lyric writing was directly related to various societal pressures that were manifesting and have been for some time as society as a mechanism pushes various barriers, agendas and belief systems. The outcome isn’t always good which is why Lipcrack still remains a great name for the band because it demonstrates how “on the edge” so many things are.
“It’s like, the world is about to have a huge crack in it and social distancing the first phase.” That however wasn’t inspired by us.
Possibly that’s a little to heavy for the music market who generally just want to hear something that adds a little something to their day and I can say when the tracks were developed the main thing I was focusing on was taking people’s ears on a bit of a journey. Other than that, I can’t really say much more about the new tracks, over time I certainly will (if I don’t get the Coronavirus).
How has the month eventuated for Lipcrack?
Actually, despite a fair few hiccups over various tasks the tracks were completed and so was the new website design. The thing is though, when the new host is decided, despite the task of actually getting it on the servers being a reasonable simple one, I have a feeling there’s going to be a fair bit of coding checks needed along with implementing new systems to monitor things. You might realize each hosting company has a different set of processes and sometimes operating systems so while the “let us transfer your site” button can seem an easy option to do things, in my opinion it’s best not to transfer the problems you had with the previous host.
And don’t say we didn’t have them because further checks when the new site was being developed provided a fair amount of evidence to how serious the issues were. Even their own updates pinpointed changes they were making due to the problems they were having in terms of their own hosting packages. The fact that our mailing system was put on stand still while all their “fixes” were sold to us just shows how quickly things that work can be disrupted. I found a highly dubious database file which first hand information tends to suggest that it stopped collecting data some months ago?? We certainly didn’t do anything to prevent any data being stopped.
So, what of now? Good news first..
1. The current sale climate saw a company who’s products (which are very good) and utilized by us on Sale. The offer was too good to refuse, it’s a new Mastering console. Studios use these in the final stages of production for recordings. Usually they provide significant improvements in clarity of sound to recordings. We haven’t used it yet and while we do have one, this is 100% compatible with the majority of products we use, basically it’s produced by the same company. Once we get a moment the first thing we’re going to do is a comparison of the two products we now have. In fact, any spare time that happens to come our way is going to be spent updating some skills and learning how to use these items.
2. Notice a Blog update?, I’m sure you do, there was a bit of a fiasco which was somewhat expected with the old layout was updated. The outcome the new layout, with a range of possible follow up options in place should any issues arise utilizing it. Another big fact, we know there’s an exploit in the Blog. There’s really not much more to be said about that, if we find a fix, then we’ll mention it. The outlook on that is good.
3. Website updates, the new layout of the site should be online in April some time. The site was condensed into something more simplistic and I went for a more consistent look across the site. I’m just hoping people pick up some of the ways its changed to represent Lipcrack in 2020. Updates to the mobile section are really going quite divergent and while the first update will be free access so to speak, that section of the site will be going to access only via subscription with email and will have its own private role in the provision of information.
All I can say at this stage is, “It will be Electrofied”. Good news because it’s multi format, computer desktop users can subscribe and gain access without a mobile.
