April is almost over and what a month it’s been, I’m sure everyone everywhere has been dealing with all range of small scale crisis. I know Lipcrack have their fair share to deal with when plans don’t go to plan. I’m going to provide a brief summary of the events that have and are continuing to prevent things running smoothly. Realistically there’s no “good reason” why they shouldn’t be.
1. We’ve been trying to move the site to a new host which provides all the services you get “sold” when you take out an account. Being able to mail mailing lists and contacting special interest groups is fairly important to any business. As I have maintained the current host “allegedly” does not have that component in their service. Hard to believe huh? I still don’t which is why I want to move the site.
Now given that I’d researched the matter and had located a range of hosts it was time to get things moving which was done, all files put on the potential new service and then when the site went live, I gather someone at their end had a different plan and all data was corrupted by broken links and gear that would not occur unless someone had another plan. The old host was quickly re-enabled and the second host option soon contacted and tested. As it turns out, the files were not even put on their service due to some dubious back end security certificate errors. I’m fairly sure they would have created an unnecessary delay in terms of keeping the integrity of the Lipcrack site functional in current time frames.
The outcome – The new site was updated to the old host. The broken links to the shop and file corruptions located on the old host that claims it’s due to the software have been repaired/replaced. We believe its site tampering of files while being hosted. Basically Lipcrack don’t care where it’s coming from, the fact that it occurs is the issue. Now let me quickly add, “we’re also sold those security certificates in the meantime”.
Currently we are not saying “you did this and you did this”, we are just aware that continual problems come up which to a great extent as I’ve maintained makes the internet close to being one of the biggest money making scams out there for major business groups and that’s about it. When you get the subsequent yearly price increases, start asking questions because it’s a farce.
In the meantime – after going through files and checks, all of which were documented as evidence on all range of matters it came to my attention that Lipcrack haven’t even released a song online for over a year. That’s actually been the focus of the majority of tasks that have been going on in the back ground to keep things moving. However see above to get a brief idea as to why no other songs have been released at this time.
The major fact, we want to move host because they are limiting our ability to do business while telling us all their own business alternatives in the meantime and putting prices up at the same time.
The Plans At This Time – While all site files have been updated on the old service and all redundant removed, they all need to be checked which will occur and be documented over the next few weeks. If you happen to find a broken link in that time, it will be corrected. Following that the plan is to release another track from the State of Suppression EP. I’m not saying when that will occur because the fact is given that the new mastering platform was purchased, I’d like to run all files through it and see if I can get a better sound quality which obviously will be appreciated by our listeners. I’m going to put a months time frame on that which I’m hoping will be plenty of time. Lipcrack don’t want to disappoint our listeners and generally the term is referred to as Remastering.
That is the news on Lipcrack matters. Hopefully next month will deliver what some of you have been waiting for. Currently it does not appear it will be with a new host, however the intention is to find one prior to the current end of hosting period.
Have a great month wherever you are whatever you are doing.
