It’s Mad March but we’ve managed to stay relatively sane at the Lipcrack site. Mailouts recommended for the new track release and so far things have gone reasonably well. Obviously we can’t tell if the same people are coming out for a listen but the thing that is constant is the amount which is reasonably high given the small amount of lists that are mailed to. Obviously social media is a big bonus for being able to network reasonably quickly with people who are putting themselves out there. Email marketing campaigns tend to be a lot more insular. That said I did recently resolve sign up issues with Instagram and am sitting out there in cyberspace one lonely gram
girl but I do plan to start some following’s soon enough. https://www.instagram.com/lipcrack/
Big fact despite now having access to a mobile phone to use, I’m still very much a sit in front of the computer and watch things from there. Mobile phones come across as a bit of a novelty item and of course you can only use one thing at a time and since I’ve grown up on the computer I’m finding it difficult to swap devices. I’m still just using the mobile as a phone.
That said what else went on this month? Surprisingly I finally got round to a photo shoot and have included an update. I also purchased and interesting piece of software that lets me convert images to artistic paintings like Van Gogh look alikes so I’ve been testing that while also going through the manual because it’s also a drawing program. I can’t draw for peanuts but it’s keeping me active in the times I’m not developing tracks.
I probably should mention my health has still been up and down like a bouncing ball but I’m getting a clearer idea on direction and the facts remain, if I want to stay involved with digital media, I have to continue to learn gear so most likely I’ll be getting back to some video editing soon enough, but I don’t plan to star in them. It’s more just testing software and seeing how it works in a hobbyist type environment. I did want to get into film at one stage in my life but ended up writing screenplays instead, again as a hobby. Landing a job that leads you in a direction you want to go can be really difficult and I know first hand once I really had an understanding of all the hype that comes with the internet and making it online, I just had to reassess my perceptions of reality and that’s where the mental health thing came into it. My mental health was shot. Not because I wasn’t making it, just a mix of life and overworking in something that by the various laws seems to be making me uncompetitive with normal advertising.
So what more is there to say for March, I’m still going through a period of change, I want to make a few more songs but don’t want to race into it right now, my priorities are changing, how I’m having to take care of myself is changing and that world where the politicians are currently going on about world economic uncertainty seems very real. There’s this image being painted that Australia is going well but when all the social media channels are internationally owned you tend to think, maybe this isn’t the direction I should be going in. But the Blog gets me by, it’s print medium which requires a little more effort than a 5 second video update, it’s not as snappy but it’s a great place to let people know how I’m feeling.
Will you be hearing more from me, undoubtably, but I know the direction is going to change sooner or later.
See you all next month.
